IBC is arguably one of the biggest events in the broadcast industry’s calendar, and after months of preparation, it’s finally just round the corner. As a PR and marketing agency specialising in the broadcast and satellite industries, IBC is obviously massive for us, and it’s also a key part of our clients’ growth and success. It’s where professional relationships are born and nurtured, the seeds of partnerships are sown, deals are opened (and closed), and exciting opportunities are discovered. IBC really is a fantastic show, and never fails to deliver, but… don’t forget to bring your comfy shoes because you WILL walk miles and miles every day!
This year, four members of the lovely Radical Moves team are travelling to Amsterdam for IBC 2024: Helen Weedon, Helen Reynolds, Sarah Thomas, and River Williams. Let’s find out what they are most excited about for this year’s show.
Helen Weedon
Managing Director
Starting with an industry veteran
First up, it’s Helen Weedon, Radical Moves Managing Director. This year marks Helen’s 21st IBC so she really is a seasoned pro! Having worked in the industry for many years, Helen has obviously built up an impressive network of close contacts; many of which she only sees once a year at IBC, so she is of course looking forward to being able to catch up with everyone in-person. As always, Helen loves making sure all of our clients really get the most value from the show. This will involve her jetting from hall to hall, speaking to media, and contacts new and old, to make connections and identify potential opportunities.
“This year, I’m looking forward to heading to IBC with such a strong and talented team. We work hard to make sure our clients get the best possible results and everyone on the team goes the extra mile to make that happen. I love to see our amazing clients flourish and grow and ensuring they have worthwhile trade shows is an important part of that” says Helen.

Next is Helen Reynolds, Account Manager for satellite and space industries. Helen can’t wait to meet our wonderful clients face-to-face again. As Helen says, “there’s no substitute for being able to sit down and have a proper chat to find out what’s going on in more depth and to find the stories that we should be sharing. You just get so much more from people when you’re not on a zoom call!”
Helen’s also eager to discover new opportunities with existing clients and prospective clients, because there’s no better time to do this than at a trade show like IBC! She can’t wait to brainstorm new ideas with clients and also find out how we can help them raise their profile. Helen works remotely from the rest of the team, so she also can’t wait to spend time with her Radical Moves colleagues! “Spending time with your team mates is so valuable because you get to bounce ideas off one another,” Helen shares.

Account Manager
Sarah Thomas
Account Manager
Moving on to Sarah Thomas, Account Manager specialising on the broadcast industry. Sarah is looking forward to meeting and catching up with Radical Moves’ clients in-person for a change after having so many online meetings. And much like the two Helens, Sarah is also looking forward to meeting potential new clients, and having conversations about Radical Moves, the show and the wider industry.
Sarah adds, “Last year’s IBC was my first broadcast industry trade show just two weeks after joining Radical Moves. This year will be quite a different experience now that I have much more knowledge about our clients, as well as the industry in general. While last year was a great experience, I’m happy that this year, I know the clients, and they know me!”
Last to come is River Williams, who is attending their first IBC after joining Radical Moves just before IBC 2023. River has spent the last year cultivating wonderful relationships with clients and journalists from across the industry so can’t wait to finally meet many of them in person. River is looking forward to meeting new faces, seeing new product offerings and exploring the many developments currently taking place within the industry, and is also interested in the conference programme and the keynote speakers attending.
River is also part of the team organising the IBC Pride Happy Hour at IBC 2024, in collaboration with Quickplay, Caretta Research and Google Cloud. It’s going to be a fantastic event designed for cultivation, community and diversity with a focus on fun and cocktails! “LGBTQ rights and representation is a topic that is close to my heart being bisexual and non-binary, so being able to (figuratively) wave my flag at IBC is a fantastic opportunity” adds River.

See you there!
IBC is a great opportunity to take the pulse of the industry, to find out what the key trends, challenges and opportunities are – to see what’s hot, and what’s not. But let’s not forget that while IBC is about the tech, it’s also about the people behind the tech.
At Radical Moves, we recognise that each company that we work with is different, both in terms of its goals, as well as its requirements. We believe that by really taking the time to get to know an individual company, and the people behind it, we’re able to help our clients achieve the best results so they can get to where they want to be.
