So that’s it, IBC 2024 is wrapped up for another year and it’s back to business as usual for Radical Moves. As always, we had a jam-packed schedule and from the time we arrived to when we left, the show was a whirlwind of meetings, panel discussions, awards ceremonies and networking events. As a PR and marketing firm specialising in broadcast and satellite, IBC is probably the biggest event in the calendar, so it takes a huge amount of effort and preparation in the months and weeks before leading up to the event. But all of the hard work paid off and it’s fair to say that it has definitely been one of our busiest and most successful IBCs so far. That’s quite something considering our Managing Director Helen Weedon has been going to IBC for an impressive twenty years!
The beauty of large industry shows like IBC is having everyone all under one roof. With a bit of careful planning, you can squeeze as many meetings in as is humanly possible and get that all important face-to-face time which is so important when it comes to relationship building. We managed to pack in tons of meetings with technology vendors, service providers, journalists and analysts, as well as organising masses of media briefings for our amazing clients. We’re proud to say that all our clients have reportedly had a great show, including 7fivefive, Accedo, Atheras Analytics, Bitmovin, Cinedeck, MainConcept, Open Broadcast Systems, RIST Forum, Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG), and Veset.
There were many special moments at IBC 2024. Here are a just a few highlights that really stood out for us.
Celebrating diversity
We were absolutely thrilled that the first ever IBC Pride Happy Hour event hosted by Caretta Research and sponsored by Evergent Technologies Inc., Google Cloud, and Quickplay, was a roaring success. And what’s more, our very own (and extremely talented) Radical Mover, River Williams played a major role in organising it. The event beautifully showcased the importance of diversity and inclusion in the industry, bringing the LGBTQ+ and Ally community together, and creating a real feel of togetherness. We can’t wait to see what else will come from this fantastic initiative now that the seed has been planted. Watch this space!
Awards and celebrations
IBC 2024, as always, brought with it a whole host of award ceremonies and we are genuinely so proud of our clients for their achievements. Not only did Accedo win the Sustainability Innovation Award at the Bitmovin Social Hero Awards, but it also won the Best Carbon Footprint initiative at the Corporate Stars Awards for the ECOFLOW project that it co-led with Humans Not Robots and carried out in partnership with several other industry leaders including Bitmovin. Bitmovin was also honoured to win the TVBEurope’s Best of Show award for its Live Encoder.
It’s always a joy to witness the recognition of hard work and innovation within the industry, and even more so when it’s our own client’s because we see first-hand how much hard work and dedication goes into every project, solution and service.
IBC wouldn’t be IBC without its bustling drinks events and this year’s show didn’t disappoint! We were happy to attend successful gatherings for both the RIST Forum and Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG), and despite the packed schedule of competing events, we were thrilled with the turnout and the chance to connect with so many industry professionals.
Looking Ahead to IBC 2025
After an action packed build up and an even more fast paced show, we’re enjoying a brief moment of calm before we dive into planning for the next event. IBC 2024 was a fantastic show for us and our clients, and we’re already looking forward to what IBC 2025 will bring.
